#059 GAD BA3 - P1: Maya Design

The next stages are to add in the the frames between each of the lock pieces and then add in the decorative handles/tubes from the door face to the centre piece. Here are the steps I took to create these pieces:

To make the frame:

Step 1: Create a circle with 6 sides that is 17 units wide.
Step 2: Rotate the circle by 30 degrees.
Step 3: Move the circle down by 1 unit.
Step 4: Select one of the faces that runs parallel to an axis and offset it by 2 units.
Step 5: Move the new face 2 units away from the centre of the circle.
Step 6: Use the Cut Faces Tool with Grid Snap to cut off through the face.
Step 7: Duplicate the face.
Step 8: Delete the circle object.
Step 9: Select the face and offset it by 0.1 units.
Step 10: Raise the face by 0.1 units.
Step 11: Offset the face by 0.2 units.
Step 12: Offset the face by 0.1 units and drop it down 0.1 units.
Step 13: Delete the centre face.
To make the decorative handles/tubes:

Step 14: Create a plane that is 0.2 units by 0.2 units.
Step 15: Extrude the face by 0.2 units.
Step 16: Extrude the face by 0.4 units.
Step 17: Rotate the top face by 90 degrees.
Step 18: Move the face 0.4 units to the centre.
Step 19: Extrude the face by 2 units (so it passes past the centre piece face).
Step 20: Duplicate the object.
Step 21: Move the object 1.2 units to the right of the original object.
Step 22: Select the frame and the decorative handles.
Step 23: Duplicate and rotate by 60 degrees, repeat until all pieces are present.
Step 24: Boolean Union the decorative handles with the central piece.
Step 25: Repeat the Boolean Union on all the handles.

The only piece left now to make is the actual door face as well as the main bolts that hold the door closed. So, nearly done.
